Cama Beach is a beautiful Washington State Park and they have some terrific cabins available at a really cheap price. My wife and I just returned from a weekend trip and we got to take our dog with us. The cabins only cost about $70 a night in the winter time, and we had so much fun are already planning our return trip. We loved everything about Cama Beach, but we really loved the cabins.

We heard about Cama Beach from a hiking friend of mine who stays there quite often. It’s located on Camano Island, about 90 miles north of Seattle. You can drive directly to this island from the mainland, so you don’t have to worry about taking any ferry boats to get there.

Why we loved the cabins

What impressed us the most is the breathtaking views of the water and the islands. Just across the water, we could see Whidbey Island and also the Olympic mountains. This isn’t just any beach, it’s a beach with one heck of a view.

Cama Beach used to be a fishing resort back in the 1930’s, and the cabins are still in surprisingly great shape. They have been renovated and modernized, but they still have that 1930’s feel to them. Each cabin has two sets of bunk beds, and a private bedroom with a larger double sized bed. You could easily fit 6 people inside. The cabins have a small kitchenette with a microwave. If you want a nice cooked dinner, they have a wonderful restaurant  onsite inside the State Park as well.

The cabins are dog friendly, and we were certainly not the only people there with dogs. Our dog loves the beach, so this is a perfect place if you are a dog lover.

Don’t forget…

The cabins at Cama Beach do not have blankets. So you will need to provide your own blankets or sleeping bag. The cabins all have a microwave and sink. But if you want to cook, you will need to bring a camp stove. There is an excellent restaurant inside the state park just in case you want a nice hot meal cooked for you.
