Retire in Medford Oregon

Retire in Medford Oregon

If you are looking for 4 seasons, mountains, forests, lakes and streams, skiing, hiking, or Shakespeare, you might want to retire in Medford Oregon.   Just north of the Oregon-California border, Medford boasts a population of nearly 78,000 people and 16.2% of those are over 65.    We found a very nice two bedroom, two bath condo in Medford for $900, right on a bus line not far from major shopping.

Medford has an active senior community with recreational and hobby activities.    There is a great little airport with frequent flights and two major hospitals.    For some reason, the downtown area has a higher than average crime rate, but the outlying area where we found our rental is quite low.

Medford is located in a mountain valley right along the I-5 freeway.  It snows in the winter and can get quite hot in the summer.   The surrounding area is either wooded or farmland.   Medford is very close to Crater Lake, one of the seven wonders of Oregon.   It is also just a few miles north of Ashland Oregon – home to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.  There is no winery shortage in southern Oregon!   Some of the finest wines produced in the state come right from this neighborhood with more than twenty varieties of grapes grown in the region.

If you are looking for a great little community in the green mountains, you just might want to retire in Oregon!
