Carson City NevadaStewart Neighborhood:
Population 55,200 with 17.5% over 65 – and no wonder!   You can find a two bedroom, two bath apartment in the trendy Stewart neighborhood for $900.  You can find homes in the $275,000 and condos are considerably less.  Nearby is the Carson City Regional Hospital and a Veterans Affairs Hospital with plenty of medical services available.   A recent survey found Stewart peaceful and quiet with a very low crime rate, an enviable mix of college educated seniors.   Those who retire in Carson City, Nevada will be the mountains by Lake Tahoe, have 4 distinct seasons, and enjoy a number of historical sites and plenty of festivals.  You can get to Sacramento CA in a morning and to San Francisco or Las Vegas in an easy day.

The state capitol, Carson City is 1/2 hour drive south of Reno, Nevada.   The area features some really fine museums including The Hiller Aviation Museum, the Nevada State Museum, the Nevada State Railroad Museum, and a really nice Children’s Museum – when the grandchildren visit.    The area is also known for antique shops and Victorian homes.  Carson City is one of our favorite places to visit and we think it would be a great choice for retirement!

Cheryl and her husband have just recently retired and live in the Pacific Northwest. She has been enjoying her herself by traveling around the world, playing with her grandchildren, and she frequently volunteers in her community. There is certainly never a dull moment with Cheryl. She cheerfully co-founded RetireBook and wants to share her energy, hoping that it inspires her readers to live life at its fullest.
